Turkmen gas reaching Indian horizons
This is the translation of Abdulgamid’s post from the Russian-language part of the blog
Earlier the Soviet newspapers used to publish news saying: “The mutual co-operation growth horizons are expanding and broadening for the good of world, progress and prosperity!” Now the outlines of another major project for Turkmen gas export become more and more distinct.
The ministry of oil and gas industry and mineral resources of Turkmenistan and the ministry of oil and natural gas of the Republic of India signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Indian partners to join such important international project as the construction of the Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan - India gas pipeline.
The preliminary talks with Afghanistan were held recently, during NATO summit.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Bucharest.
Co-operation in the fuel and energy sector, in particular implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project were a focus of the conversation. The interlocutors put emphasis on significance of the project as a factor of the welfare of the participating countries and the region as well.
The only step to make before implementation of the technical part of this prospective project can be started is to attain the commitment of Pakistan. This jaw-breaking term “diversification of natural carriers export routes” now takes the realistic shape: Russia, China, Europe (Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline) and India at last.
Whatever haters and ill-wisher say, we can make a proud reply: “There is plenty of Turkmen gas for everyone!”, like Soviet newspapers used to announce.
