Hacker-generous Turkmenistan
This is the translation of Abdulgamid’s post in the Russian-language part of the blog.
Now the discussion of Internet in Turkmenistan continues in a surprising way. While “World Wide Web” still has not spread widely around our country, Turkmen hackers have become famous around the world.
Hackers from Turkmenistan hacked the website of Irony of Fate -2 movie. The release of this motion picture was scheduled on December 21, and this exact date is the Day of Remembrance for Saparmurat Niyazov, the former president of Turkmenistan. The hackers left the following message on the website:
“Citizens of Russia!
DECEMBER 21 is the Day of Remembrance for Saparmurat Niyazov, the Great Turkmenbashi. All public events are cancelled!Let’s go, my soul, let’s walk around this country,
Your breast hosts mighty lions, Turkmen!
The time has come for all oppressed now,
-
You are Jalaladin, the brave man, you’re a Turkmen!
The thousand-winged fastrunning steed,
Surpasses winds to touch all peaks,
Your ancestors abide the Holy Mountain
Three hundred sixty teachers of the Turkmen!
(Saparmurat Niyazov)
Website is hacked by Gorkut team!
P.S. Jokhan Pollyeva is a Turkmen poetess. Don’t dare call her Chechen!”
The point is that (which is also amazing!) that the rhymes for the song performed by Alla Pugacheva and Christina Orbakaite as the soundtrack to this movie were written by Jokhan Pollyeva, who is our compatriot and the Deputy Head of Russian Presidential Administration.
Then our hackers successfully attacked Kazakhstan.
Turkmen hackers several times in a row attacked the website of Astana Akimat trying to pay back for the joke on Turkmenistan made by the Kazakhstan’s team called “Astana.KZ”. This team takes part in “KVN”, a popular students’ comedy contest. As the web-address of Astana City Hall is also Astana.KZ they hacked its server and then successfully left the message on the website’s first page: “Turkmenistan is the country of democracy! It’s none of your business!!! Don’t poke your nose into this!!! First, take a look at your country!!!”, and added the link to the page with Kazak jokesters’ show to help others to understand their motives.
Indignation of Turkmen hackers was provoked by the song performed by “Nurlan and Co” in the quarterfinal of the contest. They used the melody from famous serial film about Soviet intelligence officer and sang that Kazakhstan deprived of democracy would turn to be Turkmenia.
At the same time, we still keep complaining on the internet speed, which so slow that it takes 15 minutes to download one e-mail message. But then again it’s hard to imagine that a Turkmen hacker coming to an internet-café, presenting his passport (it’s the rule!), paying 60 000 manat ($3.00) for 1 internet-hour. And then during this hour he manages to hack the official website of Astana City Hall, while the soldiers, protecting all places of this kind, are vigilantly watching him.
Dear Turkmen students studying abroad and using high-speed Internet! Please come back to homeland sooner! Our country desperately needs such highly-qualified IT specialists! The patriotism in the cyberspace can be expressed in more amicable way. For example, same as Kazaks did. They have developed first in world history Kazak-language shooter.
Of course, nobody will give permission to develop a Turkmen-language shooter, but it would be easy to develop a Turkmen-language quest.
