Believe me, freedom does exist in Turkmenistan!

Today I found out that Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov have cancelled pass permits to border zones of Turkmenistan. This is an exciting and important decree for Turkmen people.

I guess this policy of required passes existed to ensure better control over drug trafficking, illegal migration, “friendly relationship with Uzbekistan” and our safety.

However, now I can certainly know that permits were abolished for “increasing further the welfare of the Turkmen population of Turkmenistan and ensuring free movement of citizens to all regions of the country” (www.turkmenistan.ru 14.07.07).

It’s surely a relief for many turkmen families to travel to their dear ones with no need to face bureaucracy and sometimes rejection after standing in a line for hours.

As from now, priviliged and happy, Turkmen people to enjoy the freedom of movement … within their country.

Dashoguz region ,one of the former hardest tourist spots to travel (read: to get a permit), is presently open for Turkmens to learn about their cultural historical heritage.  Well, I’m off to see my Homeland!
